The intoxication of the in-between places comes through in this piece so strongly. perhaps to the exclusion of all else in the moment of writing. I hope you will please remember to stay safe while you write.

Thanks. I'm lucky to live in a relatively safe place, and the beauty of writing in the car is that you can lock the doors, and drive away if you need to. But yes, definitely only write in places where you feel safe!

Ohh love this idea. I have to write outside the house, it was always coffee shops or the library. But over covid and thwn when my illness got really bad and I couldn't walk places I had to teach myself to write at home. It is weird, but good, to change where you write. Definitely good to try when you're in a slump!

Sorry to hear about your illness - and you're totally right, sometimes it isn't feasible to go out somewhere to write. Sometimes I find it helps just to switch up whereabouts in the house I'm writing - finding those transient spaces wherever I can. So sitting on the stairs to write can sometimes be useful. Or on the windowsill (I have quite wide windowsills...) or in a chair I don't usually sit in.

Yes definitely! Even just a different view or perspective. I feel a bit like we have to trick our brain somehow

Definitely! I think so much of writing is about tricking your brain into beginning each time, until the writing drive takes over again.

We totally cheated and had a glorified p**s up in a field. In Dent - aka The Valley of the Massive Midges.
